ABOUT THE JOURNAL

The New Zealand Journal of Medical Laboratory Science is a peer-reviewed publication containing articles on topics related to all aspects of medical laboratory science.  The Journal is the official publication of the New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Science and is circulated to members of the Institute, and universities and libraries in New Zealand and overseas.  Current circulation is about 2000.  The Journal is published three times per year and has been published continuously since 1946.

Submission of articles is not restricted to members of the Institute.  Articles from all major disciplines of medical laboratory science as well as articles of interest to the profession will be considered.  The Journal invites submissions under the following categories:

• Original articles
• Review articles
• Research letters (brief communications)
• Case studies
• Book reviews

The Journal encourages reader’s comments on recent articles or on topical items in the form of Letters to the Editor.  Brief instructions to authors are available in each issue of the Journal.  Full instructions to authors can be found in the N Z J Med Lab Sci 2000; 54 (3): 108-110 or on the Institute’s website; http://www.nzimls.org.nz/39.html   Potential authors can obtain advice from the Editor or Deputy-Editor, or any member of the Editorial Board.

The Journal is abstracted by CINAHL, Excerpta Medica/EMBASE, and the Australasian Medical Index.  The Journal, through its Editor and Deputy-Editor, is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (www.wame.org).
