Role extension Project for MLS
In 2007 the District Health Board's Technical Workforce Strategy Group established a working party to investigate the extension of the role of MLS in diagnostic pathology laboratories to provide for the anticipated shortage of Pathologists in the future. The following document by Associate Professor Mike Legge from the University of Otago was written for the working party and provides the background for this initiative and reports on the approach of the profession in the UK to meet anticipated pathologist shortages there.
