Due to parental leave, a vacancy exists for a Hospital Scientific Officer in our Molecular Pathology laboratory. The position would suit an MSc or PhD graduate able to work in a highly focused team at the leading edge of medical laboratory science. Key tasks will focus on the performance of preimplantation genetic diagnostic molecular tests on single cell biopsies of human embryos at high risk of inheriting serious genetic disease. Other tasks include method troubleshooting and development. The successful applicant will be disciplined, self-motivated, and have existing experience in human molecular genetics. Applicants with NZ MLSB registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist will have an advantage. Medical Laboratory Assistant, Technician or Scientist- Microbiology
An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist or a Registered Medical Laboratory Technician or a Laboratory Assistant to join the team providing services from the Clinical Laboratory at Wellington Hospital. This is a part–time permanent position primarily in the General Microbiology area but with some possible involvement with Respiratory Laboratory. The appointee will be required to work rostered hours at the weekend (primarily Saturday morning but with scope for more hours by mutual agreement) and public holidays.

 Canterbury Health Laboratories is seeking a NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to supplement our current staff pool as a casual on our Nightshift (0000 – 0800) roster covering Haematology, Biochemistry and Registration. As a casual you will provide cover for permanent staff for periods of annual leave and sick leave. Additional training for the position may be required during normal working hours prior to commencement on the shift. The successful applicant will be registered with the NZ Medical Laboratory Science Board.
