|Abstract:||Reference ranges which delineate as male or female are not currently useful for transgender individuals undergoing sex-hormone therapy, and may be misleading to clinicians. This article seeks to bring this issue to the attention of medical laboratory scientists practising in New Zealand, to raise awareness of prejudice and to shed light on current misunderstandings.|
