About the Role
The Haematology Department at LabPlus has a vacancy for a New Zealand Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This is a full-time position.
We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist with extensive experience to join our Haematology team at LabPlus, Auckland City Hospital. This position is Section Leader of the 24/7 FBC Automation, Morphology and Coagulation section.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage the scientific staff, technology resource and systems in order to achieve the day to day operational requirements of the section with an overall emphasis on quality outcomes and maintaining accreditation against ISO 15189.

LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. The Haematology Department at LabPLUS provides laboratory tests for the diagnosis and treatment of blood cell and coagulation disorders. Our highly skilled scientific and technical staff work together with a team of haematologists to provide a quality service (paediatric, neonatal and adult) with in depth clinical interpretation. LabPlus has a strong Core Haematology section with specialist testing being done in Special Haematology, Coagulation and Cell Markers.
About you
If you’re applying for the Section Leader position, you should ideally be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medical laboratory with an interest in FBC Automation, Morphology and/or Coagulation. Experience with leading teams and managing workflows is an advantage.

This role requires a high level of communication skills and knowledge of analytical processes. You must have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can-do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment. You will lead by example and your values should align closely to the Organisation values.
This position will also have a Health and Safety focus and an awareness of the requirements of dealing with hazardous substances as well as MPI requirements in the context of a medical laboratory would be an advantage.
