QMLT PREREQUISITES

ENSURE YOU READ THE PREREQUISITES BEFORE APPLYING TO SIT A QMLT EXAMINATION

The NZIMLS offers the Qualified Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate (QMLT) examinations annually in the following medical laboratory science discipline/subject areas:


  • Anatomical Pathology
  • Biochemistry
  • Component Processing (previously Blood Products)
  • Donor Technician
  • Core (previously General)
  • Haematology
  • Immunology
  • Microbiology
  • Molecular Diagnostics
  • Mortuary
  • Phlebotomy
  • Specimen Services
  • Transfusion Science


Important note:
The common curriculum and discipline curriculum are assessed by one examination, which contains two components. Candidates must gain a minimum of a 'C' grade (50%) in the common component, and a minimum of a 'C' grade (50%) in the discipline specific component of the written examination.


NB: Not all of the MLS subjects listed above may be offered in each year. Please check with the NZIMLS Executive Office.



Once you have completed the required number of hours to complete your qualification, please download the form, Completion of Hours Form complete and return to the NZIMLS at admin@nzimls.org.nz
