Full-time Permanent position working 40 hours per week (see shifts below)

About the role
Health is a 24/7 business and Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) is no exception! We’re on the lookout for a NZ Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Core Biochemistry team.
We are seeking applications from a passionate and proactive Medical Laboratory Scientist to join us. Our Core Biochemistry section provides an essential 24-hour service to not only the hospital but the wider community. Our primary focus is to provide the best service possible for the care of the patient.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Providing high-quality diagnostic testing
The effective and efficient use of laboratory information systems to register patients, input data, and access results
Ensuring the full repertoire of testing can be offered by following appropriate calibration, QC and maintenance procedures
Carrying out troubleshooting of assays and automated platforms when required
The development of your own professional development
Hours:
Monday- 1:30 PM-10:00 PM
Thursday – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Friday – 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Saturday – 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Sunday - 1:30 PM-10:00 PM
About you
Skills and experience
Your skills will include:
Self-motivation and discipline to work independently and a demonstrated ability to work to a high standard unsupervised
The ability to prioritise and multitask as the situation demands
The ability to work under pressure is essential
Experience in Biochemistry is advantageous
You will be registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council, with a current Annual Practising Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)
