About the role | Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga
We are seeking two experienced Medical Laboratory Scientists to join our Biochemistry team. Both positions are permanent, full-time, based in Hamilton.

Pathlab Waikato’s Biochemistry department operates between 0700 and 2200, Monday to Friday, with rostered day shifts on the weekend.

As part of a larger Pathlab network of 5 laboratories, Pathlab Waikato is home to the only dedicated Biochemistry department within the Pathlab network; we take pride in providing a highly efficient service to our patients within the Waikato and Coromandel regions.

About you | He kōrero mōu
You will demonstrate clinical and practical knowledge and expertise in the different aspects of service delivery within a Biochemistry department. Your initiative, positive attitude and professionalism will allow you to transition seamlessly into our team.

Our ideal candidates will be able to clearly demonstrate:
At least 3 years practical laboratory experience in Biochemistry is strongly preferred (>5 years is desirable).Current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand with current APC.Emerging leadership talent and team empathy, with the potential to take on future senior positions within the team.Practical, in-depth experience of operating and troubleshooting laboratory analysers and equipment.Strong clinical knowledge of medical Biochemistry.Cross-over experience in Immunology or Infectious Serology is a significant advantage, particularly in protein electrophoresis, FLC analysis, and IFA reading. Knowledge of HbA1c and thalassaemia analysis and interpretation is also an advantage.Sound knowledge of IQC and EQA practices with clear troubleshooting skills.An understanding of quality systems and practices, including familiarity with IANZ requirements.
