Pathlab Waikato is seeking an experienced Site Lead with strong expertise in Haematology and proven leadership skills—or leadership potential—to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing department and contribute to the future of diagnostic services in the Waikato region.


As Site Lead, you will:


Practise as a registered Scientist, overseeing diagnostic laboratory operations within Haematology.

Manage and continue to develop a talented team of Scientists and Technicians.

Collaborate with the Haematology Service Lead and other discipline leads across Biochemistry, Histology, Immunology, and pre-analytical services.

Engage with five clinical Haematologists and contribute to cross-discipline and cross-site projects.

Our Waikato Haematology department is a close-knit team of nine professionals delivering routine and specialist investigations. Most testing is performed on a state-of-the-art automation line, complemented by limited menu of manual investigations.

How To Apply


Our ideal candidate will have:

- A suitable qualification and 3–5+ years’ experience in Haematology.
- Strong leadership skills and empathy for team development.
- A sound understanding of IANZ / ISO 15189 requirements.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT skills, ideally with knowledge of LEAN Haematology and middleware systems.
- Registration with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
