An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed-term (12 months) position as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician to support the implementation of major software and equipment. We are inviting applications from motivated candidates to join our Automated Biochemistry and Specimen Services team within the Department of Automation and Laboratory Support Services (ALSS) at LabPLUS, Auckland City Hospital.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a new Grad MLS or MLT, to work within one of New Zealands largest tertiary hospital laboratories. The successful applicant will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to service optimisation, and gain valuable experience in automation and specimen services in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Rostered shift work is an integral part of these roles. Shifts are 24/7 rostered Monday to Sunday and the hours are predominately 8.00am 4.30pm working 40 hours per week.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Automation and Laboratory Support Services (ALSS) department consists of Specimen Services and Automated Chemistry areas.
We are a high workload area and we perform the pre-analytical processing which includes specimens receipt and despatch, registration of specimens, allocating and triaging of specimens for Te Toka Tumai, Auckland.
Our team works with all departments in LabPLUS and operates 24/7
About you
You will be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician with the Medical Sciences Council www.mscouncil.org.nz with a current annual practicing certificate and have at least 1-2 years experience in a laboratory.
The department is willing to work with a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician with a provisional Annual Practicing Certificate. A working knowledge of laboratory quality processes and ISO 15189 is essential. Established skills in Specimen Services would be an advantage.
