Are you an experienced Clinical Chemistry professional looking to lead a high-performing laboratory service in one of Australia's most unique and rewarding healthcare environments?


Territory Pathology is seeking an exceptional Network Supervising Scientist, Chemical Pathology to provide scientific leadership and operational management of our Chemical Pathology service based in Darwin, supporting diagnostic services across the Northern Territory.


About the Role

As a key member of the Territory Pathology leadership team, you will serve as the principal scientific authority for Chemical Pathology, working closely with the Director Chemical Pathology, to deliver safe, efficient, clinically responsive and high-quality diagnostic, analytical and advisory services.


This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to influence strategic service delivery, drive innovation, maintain accreditation standards, and lead a skilled team dedicated to improving health outcomes for Territorians.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and operational leadership for the Chemical Pathology service.

• Ensure delivery of safe, effective and efficient clinical laboratory services across the Northern Territory.

• Maintain compliance with quality management systems and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation requirements.

• Lead workforce capability development, competency assessment and performance management.

• Contribute to strategic planning, service improvement initiatives, business cases and briefing papers.

• Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.

• Represent Territory Pathology in professional, clinical and external stakeholder forums.

• Promote best practice, innovation and continuous improvement within available resources.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:


Essential Requirements

• A degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.

• At least seven years' experience within a clinical pathology service.

• Advanced technical expertise in Clinical Chemistry.

• Demonstrated experience managing laboratory quality systems and maintaining accreditation standards.

• Proven leadership experience, including staff development, competency assessment and resource management.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• A strong commitment to ethical practice, professional development and continuous improvement.


Desirable Qualifications

• Fellowship, PhD, or other postgraduate qualification in pathology or a related scientific discipline.
