About the Role
This varied and interesting role primarily involves processing samples for karyotyping and FISH analysis. You will work closely with a team of skilled scientists and pathologists to ensure accurate, high quality results are produced at all times.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Processing of various samples for cytogenetic analysis
Maintenance of laboratory equipment
Monitor and manage reagents and stock
Involvement in quality initiatives

About the Team/Service
Our busy medical diagnostic laboratory provides service to Waikato Hospital as well as surrounding satellite hospitals and community based services. Our Cytogenetics department provides a constitutional and acquired diagnostic genetics service including postnatal, FISH/FFPE and haematological testing.

About you
Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Quality focused with attention to detail
Ability to work well within a team
Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable
Must be registered, or eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
