Section Leader - Haematology, LabPLUS
The Haematology Department at LabPlus has a vacancy for a New Zealand Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This is a full time position.
The Special Analysis Section incorporates Special Haematology and Cell Markers/Flow Cytometry. The main role of the Section Leader is to manage and co-ordinate the activities within the section. This includes oversight of quality, deployment of staff, organising training and performance management. Bench work is also part of the day to day duties.
We are looking for someone with extensive Haematology experience.
LabPLUS is the laboratory service of Auckland District Health Board, providing a specialist diagnostic service to Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre. LabPLUS is also a major referral laboratory for specialised laboratory tests originating from hospitals and community laboratories throughout New Zealand and the Pacific islands. Section Head - Core Haematology
The Haematology portfolio includes routine and specialist Haematology disciplines including routine and specialist coagulation.
Our Haematology Laboratory is part of a core laboratory department that includes high volume biochemistry and point of care testing which is critical to the functioning of the wider Canterbury Health System with the majority of tests processed on high throughput analysers operating a 24 hour, seven day a week service to support hospital and community services. You will work in close partnership with clinical leads, the service manager and section heads on continued service improvement and shaping future direction of this key service.
Our ideal candidate will provide outstanding team leadership, direction and operational management ensuring efficient, effective and quality focused service delivery. In addition, we are looking for strong scientific leadership so a relevant scientific experience is required. Excellent communication and analytical skills, both oral and written, are essential.
You will be leading a well-established diagnostic section with expertise in delivering clinical testing and advice to both primary and secondary care providers and will work closely with clinicians, scientists and researchers within CHL and beyond, and liaise with biotech companies and the organisers of clinical studies.
